Bream Voluntary Car Service:

Bream Voluntary Car Service (BVCS) provides a personal service for anyone requiring transport for a medically related trip. Drivers provide a door-to-door service, ensuring that you are booked in for your appointment and waiting until you are ready to return home. Passengers pay a standard mileage charge, however long the appointment takes. BVCS was established in 1994 to serve Forest of Dean carers and those who need transport.

Who can use the service? Anyone that requires transport for a medically related trip, whether that be to the Hospital, Doctors, Dentist, Chiropodist, Opticians, respite care, or similar. We also transport people who are visiting patients.

Where do they cover? BVCS serves rural and often isolated communities in the South of the district. Working in villages including Bream, Clements End, Sling, St. Briavels, Ellwood, Brockhollands, Parkend, Whitecroft, Pillowell, Yorkley, Viney Hill, Blakeney, Lydney, and as far as Sedbury

Are you one of the hidden gems who has a car and can volunteer? There are people who need to get to medical appointments so volunteering will make a difference. It can suit you, your availability and preferences. Even if you have just one morning a week it all helps.

Some drivers like ‘short and local’ to doctors surgeries fifteen minutes away or to the local hospitals.

Others like longer distances to Oxford, Bristol, Gloucester, Abergavenny, Birmingham, Hereford, Cheltenham.

The mileage charge covers your fuel and the passengers have great things to say.
